Karen Blandin

Northfield - Karen Blandin, age 77 of Northfield, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at home.

Karen Suzanne (Mulligan) Blandin was born March 16, 1948, in Northfield, Minnesota, to Thomas F. and Luella Rose (Graff) Mulligan. She attended Rosary School at St. Dominic and graduated from Northfield High School in 1966. Following high school she lived in south Minneapolis, attended the Minnesota School of Business, and worked various jobs.

On August 30, 1969, Karen married Ward Allen Blandin at the Church of St. Dominic. After marriage they bought their first home in Richfield. In 1978, they returned to Northfield and built their current home in Greenvale Township. Over the years Karen worked as a bookkeeper for Mulligan Landscaping, at Northwest Airlines, as a receptionist for niece Amanda, at the Dahl House office and at ABC Bus. She retired in 2010.

Karen was a member of the Church of St. Dominic, is a former president and district director for Jaycees Women and served on the DJJD Committee for several years. She loved animals, especially horses when she was younger, and was a longtime contributor to Prairie's Edge Humane Society. She was also an avid bowler - bowling league for decades and serving as a coach for junior bowling league for over 13 years.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ward; her sons, Chris (Tara) of Farmington; Gregory (Melissa) of Dundas; her grandchildren Sydney (Caden), Peyton, Max, Cavan and Rylee; her sister, Joan of Northfield; her brother, Terry of Northfield; her sister-in-law, Carole (Jim) Peterson of St. Croix Falls, WI; her brothers-in-law, Larry of Minneapolis, Curt of St. Louis Park; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara in 1982; her sister-in-law, Mary Beth in 2010; her brother Tim in 2009; and her parents.

Interment was held privately in Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield.

Memorials are preferred to Prairie's Edge Humane Society, Northfield.
