Kayla Shantel Cotton, 27, of St Paul, MN transitioned from her earthly home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 9:15 am to be with her Heavenly Father. Kayla was born January 18, 1996, to Anthony Cotton and Shantel Hayes in Minneapolis, MN. Kay Kay as she was affectionately known was a self-taught makeup artist and gifted hairstylist that enjoyed everything fashion. She brightened the room with her beautiful smile and outgoing personality. Kayla loved to sing, play guitar and making family and friends laugh, she was always the life of the event. Kayla spent most of her life battling illness and she was a fighter until the end. Though her time with family and friends was short, she touched many lives and was loved deeply by those around her. Her family cherishes her memory as the brief gift it was. Kayla will truly be missed! She leaves to cherish her most precious memories, her mother Shantel (Terral) McNutt of St. Paul, MN, father Anthony (Celeste) Cotton of Cordova, TN, stepfather Jermar Kellum Sr of Minneapolis, MN. Sisters An-Tne & Antonia Cotton of St. Paul, MN. Brothers Jermar & Jaelin Kellum of St Paul, MN, Anthony Cotton Jr & Leonard Jones of New Brighton, MN, special niece Christiana Patrick and a host of grandmothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. Preceding her in death brother J'Varis Cotton, maternal grandfather Albert Russell, paternal grandfather Julius Cotton, paternal grandmother Annie Cotton. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 12, 2023, at Estes Funeral Chapel with a visitation beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.
