Kenneth Leon Hutchinson entered this life at Rideout Hospital, Marysville, California May 26, 1941.
He was a descendant of early farming and pioneer parents. His Hutchinsons ancestors ran the first tracklayer in Yuba County. His parents lived on the Hutchinson family ranch located where Beale Air Force Base is today. The ranch was taken under imminent domain and the Hutchinson brothers waited 2 years to be paid for their land. When their ranching operation had to be moved, they took out a loan and acquired the Comstock Ranch on McCourtney Road in 1942. Ken grew up on his father's sheep and cattle ranch working along side of his father and brothers throughout his childhood year. He resided there ever since. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959, then went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad as brakeman, conductor, where he remained employed for 43 years. Before he retired, he was 2nd in seniority.
Most important to Ken was living his best to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord with all his heart and in all things demonstrated a Christian spirit. In his off hours he was serving others. He earned the Silver Beaver Award for his nearly 30 years as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He helped a large number of boys earn Eagle Scout. You could often find him camping and rafting the rivers throughout northern California. Many of his former scouts still speak of their time in the scouting program and how much they loved Kens happy and carefree high adventure's! His helpful and kind spirit has been a positive influence to many.
