Larry L. French, age 85 of Bloomington, WI passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at home. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and neighbors. He was born in Bagley, WI on June 17, 1938, the son of Harvey and Thelma (Millin) French. Larry graduated from Bagley High School with the class of 1956. He married Ruth Check on November 7, 1964, at St. John's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Together, they raised their two daughters on their farm near Bloomington.
Larry farmed for most of his life in the Bloomington area and loved the land that he worked on. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. He was also an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Bloomington and enjoyed helping at their hamburger stand at the Bloomington fair every year.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 59 years; their two daughters Paula French (friend Scott Sengstock) and Tonya (David) Erspamer; his brother Stanley (Elaine Moris) French; his grandchildren Jacob Hazen and Bethany, Calista, and Sydney Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dale French and sisters-in-law, Sandy French and Phyllis French.
A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Father Sudhakar officiating with inurnment in Union Lumpkin Cemetery, both in Bloomington, WI. There will be a visitation at 9:30 am to noon at the church until the time of the Mass. There will be a rosary at 9:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, Larry's family is requesting memorials to the West Grant Rescue Squad in Bloomington.
