Lawrence Edward Donabedian - Beloved husband and father
Larry Donabedian was cherished by his family and friends. He was gentle but unwaveringly strong; creative and talented; determined to do the right thing; generous; thoughtful; and exceptionally kind. After a brave battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully at his home in Troy, Michigan on October 20, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Euniece, and his children.
Larry was born in Dearborn, Michigan on July 18, 1958 to the late George and Lydia Donabedian. He graduated from Wayne State University with a BA in Printmaking and Graphic Design. This led to his career as a creative director in advertising. Larry's career involved incredibly long hours and a lot of hard work, but it also afforded him many unique and exciting experiences. He shot commercials in Hawaii, Alaska, Paris, Rome, and more; he knew Los Angeles like the back of his hand from working there so frequently; and he worked with stars like Gladys Knight, Jennifer Lopez, and Enrique Iglesias. However, Larry always stayed grounded and humble - his favorite thing about his shoot in Rome was that his wife flew out to be with him; he took advantage of all his time in California to stay in touch with his dear Aunt Darlene who lived in Sun City; and he made sure to ask Enrique Iglesias to sign a CD for his daughter who was a teenager at the time.
More than anything else, family was of the utmost importance to Larry. He met his beloved wife of 38 years, Euniece Dorland, at WSU in Painting 101. In his words, "it was a boring and dreary class, but then one day this girl walked in who lit up the room and made everything more fun." They went on to have their two children, Nick (Laura Huth) and Ellen (Dominic DiClemente). Larry was the eldest brother of Ann Kamischke (Mark), Steve (Aimee), John (Angela), and Jennifer Pelegrino (Joseph). He was also the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Larry was an exceptional husband and father. He and Euniece created a beautiful home and were blessed to be part of an incredibly tight knit community of neighbors and friends. He was always eager to help out a friend; was an amazing guitar player; enjoyed traveling, going for walks, and visiting museums with Euniece; and loved simple moments like having the neighbors over for a bonfire on a beautiful summer night. As a father, he taught his children the importance of having integrity and working hard. He was a fantastic listener, unbelievably supportive, and had the best advice. Also, importantly, he passed on his love for and taste in music. He spent hours introducing his children to The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Ry Cooder, Motown, Elvis Presley and so much more.
Larry will be sorely missed, but his family takes comfort in knowing that, while he was on this Earth, he lived a life full of joy, fulfillment, and love. He will continue to live on through the lives of the many people he has impacted

Dear Euniece, Nick, Ellen and extended family...we are so sorry for your loss and lifting you all in prayer at this difficult time. We will miss Larry and we are so grateful for our times together with him and all of you. It was such an honor to know him over many years and raise our families together. We remember many happy memories sharing meals together, going to dance recitals, sharing times up North, skiing, laughing, sharing music, sharing worship and could go on and on. During those times as well as some of the recent difficult times, we appreciated Larry's sense of humor, his warm gentle spirit and the steadfastness of his faith and his caring for family and friends. He was truly an amazing man and friend. He has shown us what it means to be courageous, dignified and compassionate. For this legacy, we are grateful and will always remember him in our hearts. The first time we met was day one at Y&R in Detroit having just arrived from Adelaide Australia with my new wife to commence my tenure. From the moment Lucy Bouchard introduced us it was evident that we were to be long term friends. Our enduring memories are being in introduced to Redwings Hockey and later to Buffalo Wings, lunches at Greek town and becoming a huge Pistons fan. Most memorable was the last day spent in NY after nearly a year at Y&R Detroit. Suzie and I were tourists with Euniece as our guide while you were working followed by one hell of a send off with you, Euniece and what seemed like the entire Creative Department. This culminated with the four of us walking to the Hotel before saying goodby and vowing to catch up again. That was 1991 and there was no way we could understand the magnitude of the moment as regrettable we did not make it back. There was no Internet let alone Social Media in those days however we have remained friends for life mate and were able to share the experiences of raising families and life itself. Initially I thought I'd never speak to you again then I realised you have not gone but remain living in your family and our hearts. I speak to you every day mate and we will see you one day. God bless

Larry remains among the kindest people I´ve ever worked with. His warmth was matched by his talent, which you´d never hear about from him. He was universally loved and appreciated by many and the world lost a beautiful man. My sincere condolences to Eunice and the kids.

Larry had the warmest, most welcoming smile of anyone in Y&R Detroit. He will be missed, but warmly remembered.

Larry was an extremely talented Senior Art Director when I met him at Y&R. He was very generous with his insight and suggestions to help designs really sizzle.
He played with his band (the Suits) at my wedding back in 1986.
He had the most beautiful soul.

You were my godfather, a loving family man and the most kind person I have ever known. You had a wonderful spirit and lived your life with a smile on your face and a song in your heart. I will miss you very much, but I will carry the memories we shared and your loving spirit with me always. Rest peacefully Uncle Larry until we meet again. Love always, Jessica
