Mrs. Lena Belle Christy Scott, age 85 of Madison, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday May 16, 2023. She was born on April 4, 1938 in Cheatham County, Tennessee to the late Hershel Christy and Leah Southern McGraw. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband Willard "Willy" Scott, son Darryl Kirk, brothers John Thomas Christy and Granville Leon Christy, and grandson Bobby Ray Kirk. She is survived by her daughters Denise Kirk, Dana Zettlemoyer (Lee), and Dawn Kirk, siblings Robert Christy (Laura), Eloise Hurt (John), and Bernice Christy (Charlene), grandchildren Tara Brown, Jeffrey Kirk, Amanda Scott, Kayla Kirk, and Johnny Cunningham III, nine great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and many friends.
Lena was an all around sweet and good person. She lived with an open heart and open arms, unconditionally loving everyone around her. She enjoyed spending time on the computer and made friends from all over the world. Lena was raised Catholic and graduated from Cathedral High School in Downtown Nashville. She loved going to church and regardless of the denomination of the church she attended, Lena just loved God and lived her faith every day by showing love to anyone around her. Some of her favorite pastimes included Road Tripping, enjoying some catfish - which she claimed she could eat for every meal, and swimming. She was also a big fan of Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves Baseball.
The family of Lena Scott invites friends and relatives to join them in a time of visitation and remembrance on Sunday May 21, 2023 from 1-4pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 22, 2023 at 10am in the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, with the family receiving visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hudgens Cemetery (7360 Liberty Road, Fairview, Tennessee 37062). Those wishing to attend the burial may meet at the cemetery at 12pm, as there will not be a formal procession.
