Letrice Joy White Sneed was born in Mt. View, OK. on October 3, 1928, the daughter of John & Doris White.
She went to Chickasha High School. She attended night classes at Central State University graduating with cum laude honors all while working at Western Electric, (what we know today as AT&T)! where she was instrumental in helping "break the glass ceiling", moving on to become one of the first five female supervisors before moving up to department chief. She would often tell stories of riding her bicycle on the production floors during the night shift. She worked every job she had as if it were own business.
She enjoyed cooking big meals at the lake, taking the grandkids out in the boat skiing, and teaching them how to swim, even though she couldn't swim herself. She loved to go antiquing, find old furniture and refinish it to make it beautiful. She was loving and kind and beautiful inside and out. She would give you the last penny she had and could make a meal from nothing, and everyone was welcome. She was a forgiving person but no pushover. She could give it right back if she got mad enough!! One thing about her; she was a fighter until the end. She did not want to be told what to do!
She was a Christian and prayed a lot, she did however, love to go to the casinos! She worked hard all her life and would tell the stories of how she picked cotton and was happy to get the money to go to the show.
She was preceded in death by her son John Sneed, daughter Mary Elaine, husband U.S. Sneed, grandson Jeremy Swepston and three brothers, Bob White, Al White and Jim White.
She is survived by her children Theresa Hardgrave and husband Gene, Janet Richardson and husband Garold, six grandchildren, Christopher Orwig, Bradley Orwig, Aaron Sneed, Lisa McGinnis, Sarah Richardson and SaVana Sneed and her younger sister Sue Williams. Her great grandchildren JJ, Amree, Emily, Lucas, Cody, Oakley, Aubree, Allie, Austin, Asher, Avery, Cooper, Kinsley, Sailor and Miles.
Almost everyone that knew her loved her!
She will be dearly missed!
One word really sums it up! Extraordinary!! She was extraordinary! --
