Louise Belva Ellison Light

Louise Belva Ellison Light of Aldie, Virginia died on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Light was born in Prince William County, Virginia at Locust Grove Farm on August 14, 1915. She was the wife of the late Rumsey Smithson Light and daughter of the late Harriet Polen and William Collett Ellison. She was a descendant of Daniel Baronet Polen, whose ancestors were early settlers in Loudoun and Prince William County. Mrs. Light and her late husband were the owners of South Auburn Farm. They had Holstein dairy cows from 1929 and Thoroughbred race horses. She was also a member of the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Association for over fifty years. She was a life long member of Sudley United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School in her earlier years. She served as an observer for the Civilian Air Patrol during World War II and volunteered for the Red Cross. She is survived by her 3 children, Sylvia Hook (Wallace) of Michigan City, IN.; Meredith K. Light and Rumsey Smithson Light (Bernadette) of Aldie, VA; five grandchildren George W. Hook, III (Diane) Bellevue, WA, Susan Hook Dahl (Stephen) Saint Paul, MN, Rumsey S. Light, III (Lisa) Purcellville, VA, Hampton Hook (Catherine) Montgomery, AL, and Meredith Hook Vanasek (Douglas) Saint Paul, MN. She was preceded in death by one grandchild Bernadette Light Hagen in 2006. She is also survived by seventeen great grandchildren, Dr. Heather Hook of Mission Viejo, CA, Holly Hook of Seattle, WA, Charles, Elizabeth, George and Will Dahl of Saint Paul, MN, Sarah Catherine, Forrest and George Hook of Montgomery, AL, Douglas, Carter and Ellison Vanasek of Saint Paul, MN, Samantha, Zachary and Emma Catherine Light of Purcellville, VA and Charles and John Hagen of Charlotte, NC; one sister Muriel Webb of Cabin John, MD; one brother Galen Ellison of Marshall, VA and sister-in-law Elsie Light of Waterford, VA. She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Claudine Gasch and brothers Neville, Rolfe, Meredith and Louis Ellison. Funeral services will be held at Sudley United Methodist Church on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dennis Lipke officiating. Interment to follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas.
