Obituary
Konawa resident, Luther Carpitche, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in his home, at the age of 60.
Luther, the son of Caesar and Irene (Harjo) Carpitche, was born June 28, 1963, in Talihina, Oklahoma. He graduated high school with the Konawa High School class of 1982. Luther continued his education at Seminole State College and then Gordon Cooper Vo Tech, where he studied nursing. Luther enjoyed a long career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. He enjoyed quilting, sewing, and cooking, and he loved going to the casino.
Luther was baptized by his uncle, William "Uncle Bill" Burgess at Seminole Arbeka Baptist Church in Konawa, OK, but currently, he attended High Springs Indian Baptist Church in Konawa, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Caesar and Irene Carpitche; grandparents, Minnie Muska Harjo, and Coffey and Sally Burgess Carpitche; and siblings, Samaria and husband Laurence Mayes, Joseph and wife Gladys Carpitche, Daniel Carpitche, Paul David Carpitche, and Emily June Carpitche as well as children he helped raise, Stoney Southern and Jayke Throne.
Luther is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Kellos Walker of Shawnee, and Emma Carpitche and Tremale Henry of Oklahoma City; brothers and sister-in-law, Tim and Deanna Carpitche of Ada, and Oscar Carpitche of Seminole; his uncle, Lewis Carpitche; long time companion, Gina Throne; and children he raised, Shana Inslee and Danaca Southern, along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Casket bearers will be Craig Carpitche, Clayton Carpitche, Caesar Carpitche, John Moon, Firewolf Jeffries, Devin Reynolds, and Jericho Carpitche. Cale Carpitche, Dub Howell, Danny Howell and Tommy Howell will be honorary casket bearers.
A wake service will be Friday, September 1, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Services will be Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with Skip Foster and Kellos Walker officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson Family Cemetery in Sasakwa. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
