Martha "Pearlie" Bowers

Martha Pearlie Bowers, affectionately known to many as Pearlie, graced this world with her presence on August 23, 1941, in Sparta, Illinois, and departed peacefully on January 16, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pearlie was a beacon of love and matriarch to a large and adoring family.
Pearlie married the love of her life, David Lloyd Bowers, on July 10, 1957, in Greenville, Mississippi. The union was blessed with longevity and deep affection, with nearly 60 happy years together until David's passing in January 2017. Pearlie embodied the heart and soul of her family which includes her beloved sons Leon, Douglas, Joe and his wife Jeanie; daughter Patricia Flores; and was a cherished grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward. She is survived by her sister Barbara James, along with many nieces and nephews.
Her parents Hazel D. (Murphy) Guss and Earl W. Guss, daughter Carol Jean Foster, son Tommy Bowers, and brother Robert Earl Guss, preceded her in death.
Dedicated to her role, Pearlie took pride in being a homemaker, creating a welcoming home for all. Her hobbies spoke to her creative and inquisitive spirit, as she found joy in crocheting, tracing her family roots through genealogy, painting pottery, and tending to her flower beds.
Pearlie's warmth, wisdom, and kindness will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering spirit and the cherished memories she created will continue to light the lives of her family and friends.
Visitation for Pearlie will be held from 1:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK. A service celebrating Pearlie's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Brown Funeral Chapel in Coweta, OK, with Pastor Adam Mask officiating. Pearlie will be laid to rest at Shahan Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
