Charles Wachob Obituary

Charles Edward Wachob of Coweta, Oklahoma, went home to be with Jesus peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at the age of 92.
He was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a man of quiet principle who loved his family and Pennsylvania roots. Charles left behind a family who loved him dearly and who all look forward to a grand reunion in heaven one day.
Charles was born on Thursday, May 25, 1933, to John Edward and Sarah Mae Wachob. He was born and raised in Big Run, Pennsylvania, and lived in that region most of his life. At age 17, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, reporting to Boot Camp in 1950 at Parris Island, South Carolina, and was later stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Charles then volunteered to join the fight in the Korean War and reported for duty at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. From there, he shipped out to join the war on the front lines. Charles fought heroically as part of the 1st Marine Division, Infantry Company, 1st Battalion. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in the fall of 1953 and came home to Pennsylvania.
Charles was married on June 15, 1956, and was a loving father and provider for his home. He was known as a man with numerous skills and talents, and a lifelong work ethic. Charles worked various jobs in western PA but found his passion in the freight railroad. He began working on the B&O shortly after the war and continued with the same railroad when it became Chessie System and later CSX. In all, he was a railroader for over 40 years and retired as a conductor in 1998.
In Pennsylvania, Charles was a longtime member and attendee of Chestnut Grove Independent Church in Punxsutawney. He was a dedicated Christian and who loved his church community. His well-worn Bible had a regular spot beside his recliner. Charles was an avid and skilled outdoorsman his entire life. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing and passing these traditions on to his family. He was a proficient and decorated marksman in the Marines, and it served him well as he hunted the Pennsylvania woods. Charles also enjoyed RV'ing and travel and loved to visit his family whether the trips took him to Florida, Oklahoma, Arkansas or Canada. He liked to take annual travel adventures to the south every winter in his later years.
Charlie had one more big adventure in him in February 2023 when he moved to Oklahoma to be closer to his family and live with his daughter Brenda and son-in-law Robert. There, he would be lovingly cared for by his family in Coweta until his passing.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Wachob; his infant sister, Ruby; his sister, Mary Francis; his sister, Lois; his sister, Helen; his brother, Blaine; his granddaughter, Becky Emery; his great-granddaughters, Rylee and Kirsten Emery; and his infant great-grandson, Caleb Haynes.
Charles is lovingly survived by his children, Brenda Emery and her husband, Robert, of Coweta, Oklahoma, Glenn Wachob and his wife, Darlene, of Hope, Arkansas, Marian Wickstrom and her husband, Jeff, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Alan Wachob and his wife, Sherri, of Broken Arrow; grandchildren Rob Emery and his wife, Amanda, Robyn Green and her husband, Michael, and Renee Emery, Glenn Wachob Jr. and his wife, Felicia, Angelina Gies and her husband, Kyle, Kayla Wickstrom, and Colton Wickstrom and his wife, Gina, Sam Wachob and his wife, Jill, and Sydney Hubbard and her husband, Tyler; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and a lifetime of friends.
Charles will be laid to rest with military funeral honors at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. His funeral service will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m.

Brenda and family, I am so sorry to hear about your father. I often thought about him. We missed him at Greystone. (We are no longer there) I know that he was happy to be there with you. Hugs and prayers.
