Michael Long Obituary

Michael William Long, age 64, of Etna Green, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 27, 2025. He was born on Nov. 26, 1960 to William I. and Beverly E. (Huggins) Long in Plymouth, IN. A native of Kosciusko County, Mike's roots ran deep into the fertile soil of agriculture, an area where he cultivated both crops and a heartfelt commitment to his community. He married Dara Truex on June 17, 2006.
A graduate of Warsaw Community High School in 1979, he took immense pride in his work, which extended beyond mere farming; it was about cultivating relationships, community, and a legacy that would inspire future generations. He also attended Purdue University where he earned several certifications.
Throughout his life, Mike was not only a dedicated farmer but also served diligently on the Kosciusko County Council, where he held positions as board president and member. His contributions to the agricultural sector were widely recognized; he received numerous awards throughout his career and was celebrated as a top agriculture producer. In 2021, he earned the River Friendly Farmer Award at the Indiana State Fair.
Mike's passion extended to spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed traveling with his loved ones and cherished moments spent with his children and grandchildren. His family was his treasure, and he adored them deeply. He also is remembered for the John Deere Green running through his veins.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Dara Long of Etna Green; his children Hanna (Justin) Croy of Culver, Aerial (Eric Whitaker) Gilbert of Etna Green, Jessica (Matthew) Slocum of Portland, Oregon, and Isaac Long of Plymouth. He found joy in his grandchildren, Elleighana, Jimmy, Jackson, Joseph, Jake, Bre, and Oliver. Also surviving are his sister Aime (Hal) Hoffman of Claypool, and brothers-in-law Ronald (Mindy) Truex and Raymond Truex, both of Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Mark and Tim Long.
A Life Celebration Visitation will be held at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN on March 3, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Additional visitation will take place on March 4, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home, leading into the funeral service that will commence at 12 p.m. with Grady Sanders officiating.
His impact will resonate through the lives he touched, particularly those of his beloved family, who will carry his memory forward. The family ask that donations be made in honor of his newest newborn grandchildren to the Ronald McDonald House of Northeast Indiana, 11109 Parkview Plaza Drive Entrance 2A, Fort Wayne, IN 46845.
