Michael F. O'Connor

Michael Francis O'Connor (Ret BFD) of South Boston passed away on March 3, 2024, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Jo Ann Schilling. Loving father of Christine Ostermann and her husband Phil, Michael F. O'Connor Jr. (BFD), Jillian Devoe. Brother of Kathleen Devlin and her husband Paul. Mike is also survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased in death by his parents Francis and Kay. Siblings, Francis, Tarzy, Hoodie, Ellie, Dottie and Sissy.
Mike, an avid traveler loved to explore. His favorite destinations included St. Maarten, Hawaii, and Key West. He liked to dress up in his funny outfits to bring joy and good times to those around him.
Having served in the USMC and as a Boston Firefighter, Mike was dedicated to serving his community. Later in life, he showed a passion for helping those in recovery. He will be missed beyond words.
Visiting Hours in the O'Brien Funeral Home 146 Dorchester Street South Boston on Thursday March 7th from 4-7pm. Funeral Mass in St Monica Church 331 Old Colony Street South Boston on Friday March 8th at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery Dorchester.
