Mary Flohr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Brien Funeral Home - South Boston on Oct. 9, 2025.
Mary A. (Paterna) Flohr of South Boston passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025. She was the wife of the late Arthur C. Flohr, Sr. and devoted mother to her three children, Alena Flohr of South Boston, Arthur Flohr and his loving partner Joanie Kelly of Plainville, MA, and Robert and his loving wife Jeanne Flohr of Hudson, NH. Cherished sister of Salvatore Paterna, the late Janice Paterna and the late Angela Paterna. Grandmother of Gabrielle, Michael, Robert, Alexa, Ashley, Nicolas, Amanda and Arianna. Great grandmother of Aiden and Carter.

Mary was born in Boston on January 21, 1937 to the late Joseph and Josephine (Mirisola) Paterna. Mary loved Southie and lived her entire life on East 6th Street, where she shared her love and kindness with everyone who knew her or spent time with her - especially at her favorite place, Fenway Park. Mary devoted 39 years to managing vendors, some of whom became lifelong friends. She also befriended a number of MLB players, Boston Police Officers and all who she met at Fenway over the years.

Although she loved Southie, her years at Fenway, and even her time at the Attorney General's Office, her greatest love was always her family. Her daughter and twin boys were her heart, just as she was theirs. She passed on her finest qualities, which will continue to live on through them. She will be forever missed.
