To the Whyte family, I offer my sincere condolences. It was only recently that I learned of Whyte's passing. He was my rackmate in boot camp at MCRD-PI Alpha Company Plt 1004. Whyte was a intelligent young man, always smiling and seemed to never get frustrated. I respected that about him. I'll always keep his memory alive and our nation will forever be greatful for his sacrafice. Feel free to contact me if you like. [email protected]

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Whyte Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Nicholas, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

You were and still are a great American.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

For the family of Lance Cpl. Nicholas J. Whyte:
My name is Deanna. I went to highschool with "Nick". He was someone who shined through, was very intelligent, and was full of manners. I miss him. I enjoyed watching the swim meets. He was by- far one of the best swimmers I have ever seen. More importantly,he was one of the most talented individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing. I will never forget his smile.
I took a look in our JMHS yearbook today, and remembered everything. May god bless his soul, you and your family. I hope that your son Triston stays strong at this difficult time.

To the Whyte Family,
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your son. May the blessing of God comfort you during this time.
Paul writes:
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Romans 8:18-31
Be strong my sister and brother, for his Glory is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Andre,
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We are honored to be able to say that we met Nicholas and that he had been to our home.
In thinking of Nicholas, two words come to mind.
HONOR; a keen sense of ethical conduct
COURAGE; mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty; implies firmness of mind and will in the face of danger
Nicholas is all that and so much more. In your sorrow also be proud of Nicholas, and so many more like him, as they are the very best this country has to offer. There are none better.
May you also take comfort in knowing that Nicholas will not be forgotten, that he shall live forever in the hearts of all those he touched. God bless you and your family.

They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

To The Family of Lance Cpl. Nicholas J. Whyte,
I do not know you nor did I know Nicholas. My brother, Joseph Carbone, told me about him. It seems every time I read that another young soldier has given his or her life, I weep as if it were my own child because if we are to be true to ourselves, they are our children. Every one of those beautiful, strong and brave souls belongs to us all. They committed themselves to care for us and so we are committed to love them and pray for them.
I hope it will bring some comfort, small as it may be, to know that you do not grieve alone, as you did not love alone, and that this fine young man will not be forgotten. His short life brought forth the fruits and gifts that it was deigned to do. I dare to say we can not begin to see or know all the gifts he gave, overcome as we are by the last, consummate gift.
I will not ask why our world is as it is. I will not ask why the young and the brave die. To do so seems to question the hand of God. I know that our children are not ours but on loan to us touch all lives as gifts from our Creator. Our plans rest in time and space but God has a much grander scheme. I will remember Nicholas in my prayers, that he may rest in joy and peace. And I will remember you in my prayers, that God in His great mercy will bring you comforts as you remember the gift of Nicholas.

Dear Captain Whyte,
My deepest condolence to you and your family for the loss of your son who I know you loved very much.
No one expects to see their child pass before them, as nature would have it the other way around.
As we all watch the news every day about the ongoing engagement in Iraq we wonder and worry about our loved ones.
May the lord watch over your son and your family in this time of need; this country owes your son a debt of gratitude as he made the ultimate sacrifice for each and every one of us. Lance Cpl. Nicholas J. Whyte is nothing less than a hero and should “never” be forgotten.
Sincerely,
Captain Steven DiGiovanni

I could never express in words anything that would console you at such a time. From what I have read in the paper of your son he was a heroic and bright young man whose light was removed from this world far too soon.
