Patricia "Pat" Kiser

Patricia "Pat" Ann Kiser passed away peacefully at home from COPD, on December 19, 2022. Patricia Ann Southern was born on February 16, 1941, in Bussey, Iowa to Farris and Leota Southern. Pat attended Bussey Grammar and High Schools. Pat married Samuel Peter Sciarrotta on November 23, 1957, at Saint John's Basilica in Des Moines.
A rosary service will be held on Wednesday, December 28th at 5:00 PM, with a visitation to follow until 7:00 PM, at Merle Hay Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 29, at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary of Nazareth in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Pat and Sam had two children, Pete, and Sherry, while living in Des Moines, and Urbandale. They were divorced in March of 1979. After Jim's passing, Pat moved to Newton in 2014 to be with family. She enjoyed the friendships she made with the residents of Newton Place Apartments; she had a lot of fun in these years.
Pat was employed by AT&T, and Wal-Mart during her working years. She enjoyed doing genealogy and family research, which was her passion. She was a member of The Iowa Genealogical Society.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands Sam Sciarrotta, and Jim Kiser.
Pat is survived by her brother Ralph (Betty) Southern, her son Pete (Sherri) Sciarrotta, and daughter Sherry (Matt) Lynch, and stepson Eric Kiser, grandchildren Michael (Jackie) and Matthew (Christa) Lynch, Anna (Brenden) and Micaela (Tyler) Sciarrotta, great-grandchildren Lynnsey, Logan, Kylie, Brianna, and Madison Lynch, and Reuben Layton. Also surviving are nieces Dianna (Jim) Olsen, Elaine (Sam) Thomas, and Kelly (Butch) Burgess.
Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be missed by her family.
