PETER PARHAS Obituary
Peter Parhas, from Levidi, Arkadias, Greece, age 82. Beloved son of the late George and Stamata Parhas; loving brother of Konstantina (Filippos) Petropoulos and the late Arthur (Eugenia) Parhas, Demetra Parhas, Pauline Athas, Evangelos Parhas, Vasili Parhas and Ioannis Parhas; dear uncle to Demetre (Diamanto) Parhas. Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews here, in Greece and Australia. Member of AHEPA Woodlawn Chapter. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Cross Greek orthodox Church appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 3 to 9 p.m. Trisagion 5 p.m. at Hills Funeral Home, Ltd., 10201 S. Roberts Rd. (8000 W.) Palos Hills. Funeral Thursday beginning 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, service 10:30 a.m. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. "May His Memory Be Eternal." Info 708-598-5880

Uncle Peter loved and always acknowledged his relatives. Although no longer with us his love transcended the ocean to encompass his nephew and overseas. Such a caring man can and never will be forgotten.

I have fond memories of Theo Panayioti and how very welcome he made us all feel when ever we would visit Chicago. It is with sadness that we say farewell to him. All the very best to him on his next journey. Our love and thoughts to you all in the US.

It's so sad to see the passing of the last of the "older" Parhas brothers generation with Uncle Pete's passing. The memories I have go back to the early 1950's when Uncle Peter lived with us in Adelaide Australia before he moved to Chicago.My sister Matoula and I remember those times as if they were yesterday. He was always a very giving person and interested in the world around him. My wife Panayoula along with our children were fortunate to meet him. We will miss our frequent phone chats. Even though the Vasili Parhas offspring and their families are so far away in Australia, he never forgot us just as we will never forget him. "May the ground that covers him, be soft". May he rest in Peace, and his Memory be eternal.

To the entire Parhas family which includes my dear sister-in-law, Stella---I am very sorry for your loss. Please know that I have very fond memories of talking with Uncle Peter over the years about many things--most especially with regard to matters related to working for the church--something that he both loved and took seriously. I saw him as industrious, gentle and kind--and a man who loved his extended family very much and lived his faith each day with quiet dignity. I know that he will be missed but I pray that you are comforted in knowing that through you--and the influence that Uncle Peter had on you--his memory will be eternal.
