Ralph Frangipani, at the age of 96, passed from this life on September 22nd. He was reunited with his greatest love, his wife Cass, of nearly 70 years who preceded him in death. A lifetime resident of South Philadelphia, Ralph began his decades long exemplary career in recreational leadership at Columbus Square Playground. His career path then led him to a position with the City of Philadelphia as an event coordinator at JFK and Veterans Stadium. He retired from a 25-plus-year position as Head of the Philadelphia Phillies grounds crew, where he was a fixture at the stadium.
Ralph, being the youngest of his 4 siblings, developed a silly sense of humor that he carried through his lifetime, marking his bigger than life personality with genuine laughter and smiles to all who met him. To his many nieces and nephews, he will be forever remembered as the silly, fun-loving Uncle.
Ralph's legacy will be his unshakable devotion to his wife and 3 sons Gregory (Marie Elena), Ralph (Toni) Frangipani, Jr., and Steven Frangipani. His life was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Francesca (Joseph) Galdo, Dante, Gregory, Gabriella, and Salvatore and three great grandchildren, Livia, Vida, and Louis Galdo. He will also be remembered by his long-time friend and aide Estelle. Relatives and friends are invited to his VIEWING Friday September 29th, 9am to 10:45am at Holy Spirit Church, 1845 Harntraft St, Philadelphia, PA. 19145. His funeral mass will follow at 11am. Int. Holy Cross Cemetery.
