Raymond Darrell McDaniel, age 63 of Monticello, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born May 12, 1959, in Heber Springs, AR to the late Robert Ben McDaniel and JoAnn Meek McDaniel.
He was a Machine Tool Instructor at the Monticello OEC and member of Northside Baptist Church. Darrell also worked at Burlington Industries after graduating from high school, then worked briefly at War Eagle Boats before taking the position at Monticello OEC. Darrell was a quiet man and a deep thinker who loved his family and friends with all his heart. He spent his days enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, and being with his family. In his youth, he proudly enjoyed his time as a Monticello Senior High Billies Football player and was a member of the MHS class of 1978. He loved his classmates and so enjoyed his class reunions. He had a passion for passing his knowledge of machine tools to his students at Monticello OEC for 20 plus years. He loved his students and hearing their success stories. He was also a member of 30-30 hunting club for 30+ years. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Jo Beth Hudgens; a brother, Robert Alan McDaniel; a nephew, Caleb Alan McDaniel; and two brothers-in-law, Donny Farley and Ronnie Rogers, mother in laws, Marilyn Callison and Brenda Bratton
Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann McDaniel of Monticello; one son, Jordan McDaniel (Emmalee) of Star City; two daughters, Katie Marshall (Ramey) of Little Rock and Julie McDaniel (James Grate) of Asheville, NC; an expected granddaughter, Rylee McDaniel; two grandchildren, Madison Marshell and Mason Marshell; father in law Gary Bratton of Caddo Valley, AR; siblings, Roland McDaniel (Hope) of Alexander, Risia Farley of Monticello, Phillip McDaniel (Lori) of Monticello, David McDaniel (Nita) of Monticello, Peggy Byrd (Jeff) of Bryant, Art McDaniel of Sheridan and Kristi Moseley (Mike) of Monticello; brothers-in-law, Tommy Bratton (Tracy) of Monticello and John Bratton (Vicki) of Rockport, sisters-in-law, Karen Montemayor (Scott) of Montgomery, TX, Billie Kay Calvert of Fort Smith and Candi Rogers of Fordyce, an uncle, Robert Lynn Meek (Anita) of Cave Springs; two aunts, Corrine Meek of Kansas City, MO and Kay Jensen of Baton Rouge, LA; 46 nieces and nephews and 46 great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Lanthrip officiating.
