BOARDMAN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Family Church and prayers will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Richard L. Myers, 67, who died early Sunday afternoon at Hospice House surrounded by his family. Richard was born June 30, 1943, in Zanesville, to George and Catherine (Carlow) Myers and lived most of his youth, in Cuyahoga Falls. Richard graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968 and saw action in Vietnam in 1968 and was in the Army Intelligence. He graduated from Youngstown State with a B.A. in Geography and an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in retailing and retired from JCPenney in 2004. He was a member of the Holy Family Church and was an avid golfer and skier. Richard is survived by wife, Rose E. (Nuhfer) Myers, whom he married Dec. 27, 1969; his father, George Myers of Akron; a daughter, Jennifer Myers and her husband, Eric Dunn of Cleveland; a son, Jeffery and his wife, Suzi Myers of Columbus; three grandchildren, Natalija, Andrew and Elena; a sister, Lori Mellinger and her husband, Jerry of Cuyahoga Falls; and a brother, Raymond Myers of Canton. He was preceded in death by his mother. Richard will be remembered by his loved ones for his courage and upbeat attitude. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Calling hours will also be Thursday morning, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Poland Riverside Cemetery. Material tributes may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
