Richard W. "Dick" Peterson

Richard W. "Dick" Peterson of Needham died on Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood. He was 88 years old. Dick was born and raised in Whitman, the son of the late Ray and Ilda (Wright) Peterson. He was a proud, US Navy World War II Veteran. After the War, Dick attended Northeastern University where he earned both undergraduate and Master's Degrees. He was a former Physics Professor at both Northeastern University and Wentworth Institute of Technology. He also worked as a chemist for Dupont. Dick was an avid reader and learner, he enjoyed any adventure and loved to travel and was an accomplished gardener. He was the Beloved husband for 60 years of Elizabeth "Betty" (Millar) Peterson and was the Loving father of William Douglas "Doug" Peterson and his wife Karen of Millis and Elizabeth "Beth" Peterson of Walpole. Dick was the Brother of the late Evelyn Peterson. A Memorial Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Saturday, April 13th at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Saturday prior to the service.
