Richard Averitt Roadman
Date Of Birth: 12/19/1951
Date of Death: 10/12/2023
Rick was born in Portland, Oregon. He moved to Everett and then Longview, Washington, a short spell in Billings, Montana, and then to Spokane, Washington, where he graduated from University High School and completed a certificate of Electronic Graphics and Publishing from Spokane Falls Community College. His last home was in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Rick worked for many years creating advertising artwork for a local paper. Although he was a talented artist his true love and gift was his music, in particular the guitar. Rick started playing the guitar when he was quite young on an old guitar handed down to him from his uncle Craig. The first time he performed on stage was at a talent show while in Junior High. He went on to play music throughout the Pacific Northwest. He played in a number of bands during his career, most notably, Stone Johnny Mountain Band.
Rick is survived by his sisters, Kimberly Viera of Cornelius, Oregon, and Diana Richfield of Hillsboro, Oregon; one niece, four nephews, and two grand nieces. He was proceeded in death by his father, Richard C. Roadman; his mother, Phyllis L. Lukesh; and stepfather, Edgar (Dave) Davidson.

I met Rick many years ago while competing in a vocal competition in Spokane. He was the guitar player for the backing band, and was undeniably the standout of the group. Always humble. Always gracious. Always supportive. We were never close friends, but would message back and forth from time to time. I was always humbled that he even remembered who I was.
A genuinely kind and lovely man. RIP my old friend. Heaven gained a good one
Sincerely, Kyle Swaffard.

I loved Rick as a best friend. I first met him in Spokane about 1970. I'm sure he had a guitar in his hands. 10 years later I would be traveling the country with Rick as a sound and lightman for his band. We had a blast. When that ended Rick played on with other bands and I saw him whenever I could. I moved to LongBeach, WA and Rick moved to Portland around 1990. Not too far to visit many times over the next decade. Good memories all! Rick was such a great guy.
RIP good friend. Mark Douty
