Mr. Robert R. Plank, Jr., 59, of Mill Creek, Indiana, died Thursday March 12, 2009 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte. He was born June 20, 1949 in Stewartville, Minnesota, the son of Robert R. Plank, Sr. and Maryetta (Euler) Plank, living in the LaPorte area, all of his life. Robert worked as a truck driver for Etna Supply for eleven years and drove a truck for over thirty years. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in LaPorte, IN., he was a Veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Robert enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing and working on things. He enjoyed camping at Hoffman Lake in Warsaw, IN for twenty-years. Robert was always smiling and friendly, he didn't know a stranger, he always was helping others and putting himself last. Robert was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all. On August 20, 1983, in LaPorte, IN, he married Marilyn J. Houts who survives. He is also survived three daughters, Christine (Larry) Calvert of LaPorte, IN, Laura (Michael) Swanson of LaPorte, IN, Monica Plank of LaPorte, IN, three sons, Jeffrey Plank of LaPorte, IN, Brian Schoff (Shellie Aikman) of Valparaiso, IN, Matthew Plank of LaPorte, IN, Six Grandchildren, Colin Swanson, Caleb Swanson, Isabella Swanson, Emma Swanson, Garrett Calvert, Abigail Sims, two sisters, Emmie (Ken) Kamrowski of Hesperia, MI, LaDonna Buckman of Walkerton, IN, two brothers Maynard (Dottie) Plank of North Judson, IN, Chuck Plank of Michigan City, IN, . Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., March 16, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Steve Laue and Rev. Alex Stone, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana. A Military service will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the To the Family of Robert R. Plank, Jr.
