Robert Michael Senko passed away peacefully at home on July 13,2022. He was one of nine children born to The late Martin and Julia Heinrich Senko. He graduated from the first graduating class at Jesuit HS in 1960 and received an engineering degree at the university of Portland in 1964. Bob had a passion for flying that led him to a 26 year career in the AF. H e completed pilot training at Williams AFB in AZ.the following year and stayed there as an instructor pilot in the T-38 until 1969. He flew the A-1 in a tour to Vietnam including flying on the SonTay raid in an attempt to rescue the POW's, earning him a Silver Star. After earning his masters degree in aeronautical engineering, he spent a tour in research and development. He completed two tours in the F-4 overseas and returned to R and D, retiring as a Colonel from the Pentagon in 1990. After retirement, he supported OSD Joint Test and Modeling and Simulation offices. In 1991; he and his wife bought 32 acres of land with the perfect south facing slope near Banks., moving there in 1993 and ultimately planted 15 acres of wine grapes. He split hhis time between Oregon and DC until 2006 when he retired to be a full time Oregonian back to his roots. He and Marilyn managed the vineyard until 1915, selling it and moving to the Claremont Golf Community where Bob spent much of his time on the golf course.
In 1964, he married Marilyn Forman of Antelope, OR and together they raised their three children. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his sons Sean Michael(Carol) and Eric Christopher(Tamiko) and daughter Shannon (Jim) Lowry. His grandchildren include Braeden Senko, Jake Stewart, Madilyn and Mason Lowry, Olivia Warren and Annabelle Lily Senko. He has one surviving sister, Barbara Beaulieu of San Rafael CA. And many nephews and nieces.
