Roger Grunewald, 83, of Rothsay, formerly of Elizabeth, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Sanford in Fargo.
Roger Ernest Grunewald was born March 25, 1941, in Pelican Rapids to Ernest and Ellen (Erickson) Grunewald.
On June 6, 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Donna Helvick at Friborg Lutheran Church, rural Rothsay. Donna died in June of 1998. On May 25, 2001, Roger married Joan "Joni" Bjerke.
Through the years Roger was employed with Midland Dairy, Metro Meats, Burlington Northern Railroad and farming.
Roger was a member of the Eagles Club, Elizabeth Sportsmen's Club, Minnesota Darkhouse and Angling Association and was active with the Lake Region Threshermen's Association of Dalton.
Deer hunting, ice fishing, attending farm auctions and collecting Farmall tractors were hobbies that Roger enjoyed.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Ellen; and his wife, Donna.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Kim (Bruce) Brenden of Rothsay; sons, Kevin (Lorrie) of Fergus Falls and Keith (Angela) of Elizabeth; grandchildren, Heidi Brenden, Katie (Brady) Lee, Andrew (Becca) Brenden, Abbey, Shelby, Zachary and Jason Grunewald and Jaclyn (Tony) Hanson; step-grandchildren, Mavyn and Evan Peterson; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Easton, Tatum, Aimsey, Kaylor, Emerick, Adelyn, Avery, Charlotte, Carter, Jordyn, Laityn, Sienna and Emilia; brother, Duane (Kay) Grunewald; sister, Elaine (Gary) Thiel; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls with visitation resuming one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Fergus Falls.
Clergy: Chaplain David Strom
Interment: Friborg Cemetery, rural Rothsay to be held in the spring.
