DeHate, Ronald L. Sr. - of Clio and Montrose, age 68, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral mass will be held 10AM Monday, June 21, 2010 at Saints Charles & Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Fr. Gerald Ploof officiating. Interment to follow at Cook Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday from 5-9PM and Sunday from 1-4 and 6-9PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7PM. Mr. DeHate will lie in state on Monday at the church from 9AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Right to Life Organization. Ron was born on August 9, 1941 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to the late James and Theresa (Moore) DeHate. He graduated from Pinconning High School in 1959. Ron married Susan Ayers on April 29, 1961 in Linwood, Michigan. He was employed with General Motors for 35 years, retiring in 2000. Ron was a member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church, UAW Local 599 and the Knights of Columbus Council #13703. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, snowmobiling, tractors, fishing and keeping himself busy with projects in his pole barn. He is survived by: wife, Susan; children: Ronald Jr. (Angela) DeHate of Kalkaska, Jeffrey (Ana) DeHate of Portugal, Matthew (Deneen) DeHate of Montrose, Darren (Michelle) DeHate of Indiana, Chris (Michelle) DeHate of Clio; grandchildren: Amanda, Jacob, Alex, David, Anthony, Andrew, Adam, Tyler, Trent, Olivia, Isabelle, Paige; sister, Alice (Steve) Szyperski of Sanford; beloved dog: Abby; numerous nieces and nephews.
