Ronald M. Swope, age 81, of Girard, passed away Monday, April 22nd, 2024 at LECOM at Village Square.
He was born on April 8, 1943 in Erie, the son to the late Brent and Dorothy (Arnold) Swope.
Ron attended St. Mary’s School in Erie, he then enlisted in the Army. Ron was deployed in Korea for 4 years, from 1960 to 1964. He was a very proud veteran, he loved his country. Ron was a great inventor with radios, he was always the first person to let everyone in the field know it was safe. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with his bike groups. He was very strong in his faith, enjoyed wood working and building/caring for his fish tanks.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia and Lisa Swope; two brothers, Ryan and David Swope; and his first wife, Brenda Metta Plummer.
Ron is survived by four daughters, Sondra Hoskins and her husband Tim, Bobbie Esser and her husband John, Jodie McCutcheon and her husband Paul, and Andrea Gordon; nine grandchildren, Wes and Nicole Tenney, Roman, Kayla, Johnna, Buddy, Heather, Zack and Tanner; seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Jillian Tenney, Jacob Perry, Athena, Jimmy Jr., Hailey, and Gabriel; six brothers, Darryl, Douglas, Bill, Bud, Robin, and Dennis: two sisters, Joyce and Patricia. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. E., Girard on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 11 am until the time of memorial service there at 2 pm.
