Mr. Maughan's gentle spirit, kindness and thoughtful manner will long be remembered. Jessi and I are deeply saddened to hear of his sudden passing. May a spirit of peace be with all of his family as you walk through life without his daily presence.

Roy Maughan was a very dear friend and my spouse and I looked forward to seeing him in the Baton Rouge Temple Roy enjoyed eating Katherine's sandwiches. We also enjoyed seeing his wife at the annual Christmas party at the Temple. Thoughts and prayers for the family. And yes, he loved Cache Valley Utah.

Iris, I really value the time that I shared with you, Roy and the rest of the guys. We used to have so much fun together just talking and visiting one another. Roy befriended me when I first joined the church. He was my mentor and good friend. I will miss him very much. My wife urged me to call you recently when I was having some difficulties and I'm sorry that I didn't, but what's done is done and I wish you very best. My deepest condolences to you and the family.

I will always have fond memories of Roy being such a fun and loving friend and neighbor to my parents since they moved in next door to the Maughans in 1985. I was often around and got to see first-hand how much my parents enjoyed Roy and Iris - all the block Christmas parties, assembling those outside yard trees that everyone on the street did, the dinners they shared - often with the young men on ministry who were away from home and missing their families - Roy was like a surrogate father to them. Now that my parents are gone, I live in the house next door, and I've been extended the same neighborly friendship and kindnesses. He was always generous with the fruits of his gardening - especially all those figs! Roy took pride in his garden and landscaping. Iris - you have a great support team with your two combined families - I know you'll be just fine. And, I'm right next door if you need anything. Without a doubt, Roy was sincerely - one of the great ones. Peace and God's graces to all of the family.

A loved family friend and beloved brother in Christ, we were blessed to know him and his beautiful family. He was my first Scoutmaster. He was a man I always respected and had deep admiration for Bother Roy. We believe families are forever, God be you Brother until we meet again. I appreciate all your service to the community & LDS church, our prayers are with your family at this time, and we love them very much. Joseph Chris Millet

I consider Roy a good friend. I was his home teacher for a few years. I always enjoyed his testimony on Fast Sunday.

Roy was a great example to me and my family. His goodness, kindness and generosity made the world a better place. When I learned of his passing, my first thought was how grateful I was that he and Iris were able to come to Missouri to see us before we left on our mission to Iceland. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Iris and the rest of the family. I wish we could be there to help pay tribute to a truly great man.
