Russell A. Duncan, 82, of Wakefield died Monday December 21, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital.

Born April 18, 1927 he was the son of the late Harold W. and Rita S. (Trites) Duncan.

Mr. Duncan was raised in Saugus and was a graduate of Saugus High School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He had worked for Hickey Oil Corporation of Wakefield until his retirement, after which he was a self employed painter and contractor. He had been a long time Wakefield resident. He was member of the Italian American Club of Wakefield and the American Legion.

Mr. Duncan was the husband of Barbara A. (Bennett) Duncan. He is survived by his four children, Russell B. of NH, Robert A. of Wakefield, Christopher N. and his wife Nancy of Groveland and Roberta A. of Wakefield. Also survived by his brothers Albert and Wayne of Saugus and two grandchildren Rebecca Wilczynski and Paige M. Anderson. Mr. Duncan was predeceased by his two children, Mark S. and Gloria J. as well as his five siblings, Harold, Cameron, Lovell, Gerald, and Robert.

A funeral mass will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St. at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mark S. Duncan Scholarship Fund, c/o Wakefield C.S.F., P.O. Box 321, Wakefield 01880.
