Sam Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 3, 2023.
Sam L. Davis was born on January 1, 1948 in Oxford, MS. He died on December 1, 2023 at his home in Hernando, MS. In Sam's early years, he spent most of his days playing baseball. When called upon, he joined the U.S. Army to serve his country. He was a retired firefighter from the City of Memphis Fire Department where he served 33 years. He was also a Shriner and Master Mason. He loved to work on things and took pride in being able to fix things for others when needed. He had a natural sense of humor that never failed to make people laugh no matter the circumstance. He enjoyed watching cooking shows as well as cooking for others. He made sure everyone always had something to eat and did not want anyone to go hungry. When he was able, he loved going fishing at his favorite fishing spot. He took pride in his country and spent his career serving others. Sam was preceded in death by his father Troy Davis, mother Opal Davis, wife Laurel Davis and son Jason Davis. He is survived by his daughter Heather Barlow (Oscar) of Crenshaw, MS, sister Alisa Davis of Olive Branch, MS, grandchildren Joey Barlow (Marley), Gracie Barlow and Brittany Clemons (Josh), great grandchildren Kelsey Clemons and Tyler Clemons, niece Paisley Gay and nephews Austin Davis and Jeremy Foulks. He also leaves behind his honorary brothers Sam Drewery and Kenneth Hodge.
