James Phillip (JIM) Bomprezzi Sr., Former Mayor, Navy Veteran, Police Lieutenant and Realtor.

Jim, age 87 was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 13, 1938 to his parents, Severino Phillip Bomprezzi and Mary Tartera, Bomprezzi, both deceased. Jim attended Blessed Sacrament and Saint Michaels elementary schools and graduated from Memphis Catholic High School for Boys in 1956. After graduation from High School he volunteered and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956, spending four years active duty in several locations, Norman, Oklahoma, North Island at San Diego, California, Sangley Point, Philippines, and received a achieved the rank of aviation machinist third class petty officer with a Good Conduct Medal and Honorable Discharge. Jim also served in the U.S. Navy reserves in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1957 he married his wife Barbara, the former, Barbara Jean Knighten of Laurel, Mississippi. While in the Navy, Jim and Barbara lived in San Diego, California, and then Memphis, Tennessee.

Jim a resident of Lakeland, Tennessee was also preceded in death by his wife Barbara in August of 2025. They had three children. He leaves his daughter, Constance Cecelia Bomprezzi McCarter and her husband and his son-in-law, James R. McCarter of Lakeland, Tennessee, his son, James P. Bomprezzi Jr. of Bartlett, Tennessee, and he his daughter, Deborah Jean Bomprezzi Carrigan and husband and his son-in-law, Andrew Carrigan of Bartlett, Tennessee; and one granddaughter, Amanda Louise Bomprezzi of Bartlett, Tennessee.

In 1959 Jim worked for Kimberly Clarke Corporation in Memphis and then in 1960 he was employed by the Memphis Police Department achieving the rank of Lieutenant and spending over 28 years of service retiring in 1987. In 1976 Jim was licensed as a Tennessee Real Estate Broker and was a member of the A.R.A. (American Real Estate Association) and M.A.A.R. (Memphis Area Association of Realtors). In 1987 he opened his own real estate company and was the Managing Principal Broker of A-I Realty Co., located in Brunswick, Tennessee. Being a successful businessman throughout the years, Jim managed several Real Estate Firms and earned membership in the M.A.A.R. Multi-Million Dollar Club and served on several boards and taught real estate in the State of Mississippi for R.E.T.I. (Real Estate Training Institute).

In 1995-1997 Jim was elected to the City of Lakeland, Tennessee Board of Commissioners as a City Commissioner and in 1997-2001 he was elected as the Mayor of the City of Lakeland, Tennessee.

Jim is a Christian and loves the son of God, Jesus Christ.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, October 29 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm then again on Thursday, October 30 from 9:00 am until funeral services begin at 10:00 am all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133. Burial will follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that Memorials be sent to Saint Jude Children Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
