Sean M. Lynch

Sean Lynch, beloved professor, scientist, and fisherman extraordinaire, died October 28th, at his home in
Bolingbrook, Illinois after a battle with brain cancer. He had just turned 60 years old.
Sean was born on August 15, 1962, in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, to parents Kathleen and John "Jack"
Lynch. In the Irish fashion his full name was Sean Martin Mary Patrick Lynch. He had a passion for fishing
and won many awards for it as a boy. He proved to be an excellent student and received his bachelor's
degree graduating with honors of science in Biochemistry from Queen's Belfast University in 1985.
Followed by earning his doctorate in 1989 in Nutrition and Biochemistry from Ulster University at
Coleraine.
Sean moved to the United States in 1989 to start his first post-doctorate position at the Grand Forks
Human Nutrition Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where he met his future wife, DeeAnne
Remington. He then completed post docs in Boston at Harvard University and Boston University. He
moved to Illinois in 1995 to take on a faculty position in Biochemistry at Midwestern University in
Downers Grove. Sean took pride in educating future medical professionals and in his antioxidant
research.
When not working Sean enjoyed spending time with his loving family. His hobbies included flower
gardening, traveling, reading, camping, grilling in the summer and yes, occasionally fishing. He was an
active member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was especially proud of his son, Michael and his daughter, Caroline. Just being with his family gave
him immense joy.
Sean is survived by his wife DeeAnne Remington; Son Michael Herzog Lynch; daughter Caroline Aine
Lynch; sister Catherine Adams and Aunt Elizabeth Entwistle.

Memorial Visitation Thursday, November 3rd from 9:30 am until chapel prayers 10:30am at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL. 60440 to St. Dominic Catholic Church, Mass 11:00am. Inurnment will take place at a future date in Ireland.
Sean will be missed dearly by all those who called him friend and family.
