Stephen Gene Richey was born on May 17, 1952, and passed on December 12, 2023 at NAMC, with his wife and daughters by his side, after a sudden cardiac event. The family would like to specifically thank his Dr. Kahn and 2nd floor nurses for their compassionate care.
Steve spent most of his early career at Lawrence County Hospital as the maintenance supervisor. He spent the last 20 years as the Facilities Operation Manager for Sam's Town Casino until he retired.
Steve loved fixing anything. He loved learning and continually expanding his knowledge in his next project. He loved fishing, camping with his wife Kim, and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Stephen Gene Richey is preceded in death by his father, Charles Richey, and brothers, Ricky, Tim, and Anthony Richey.
Steve is survived by his mother, Wilma Richey; wife, Kimberly Richey; brother, Thomas Richey; daughters, Erin Blalock (Shane), Wendy Downing; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Autry (Brandon), Greta Downing, Jack, Eleanor, and Dalton Blalock; and great-grandson, Oliver Autry.
Visitation will be from 10 am -12 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 15, 2023, a service will immediately follow visitation. A brief graveside gathering is planned immediately following the service.
