Thomas "Wurdell" Bentley was born in Sedalia, Missouri, on May 6, 1956, to the late Sadie Turner and Tommy Lee Hawkins. He spent the majority of his life in Sedalia; however he enjoyed traveling and spent portions of his life living in Sacramento, California, and Spokane, Washington. He enjoyed sports and listening to music, but his favorite thing to do was to spend time with others. He loved People and never met a stranger. When he was around others, he wanted everyone to have a good time. He was a gracious host, and an entertaining deejay. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Bentley, and uncle Robert Bentley.
He is survived by his life partner Michelle Nash of Sedalia, MO; daughters Tamika Simms of Sedalia, MO, and Angela Townsend of Powder Springs, GA; grandson Rayquan Townsend and granddaughter SaKiah Parks; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many brothers and sisters: Cornelius "Rennie" Bentley, Carolyn (James) Dixon of Suitland, MD, Robert Hawkins, Jean Hawkins, Tommy Hawkins, Jr., Caprice Hawkins, Glenda Marsh, ViTina Cason-Olawale, Lauriane Schmedel, and Shontella Scroggins.
He leaves to cherish: Aunts Nannie Peterson of Lompoc, CA, Cora (Herman) Dogan of Ft. Washington, MD, Elizabeth Bentley of Kansas City, KS, Claudette Green of Elgin, SC, and Sherry Bentley of Belleville, IL; and Uncles Charles (JoAnn) Bentley of St, Louis, MO, and Noah (Cookie) Poole of Sedalia, MO. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
