Thom Misiak, 75, passed away December 23, 2021 in St. Anthony's
Hospital in Lakewood, CO. The son of Roman and Rose Misiak, he attended St. Francis de
Sales High School in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design.
He married Sue Cieslukowski and the two began their life together in Columbus, Ohio, where their daughter Stephanie was born. Thom's great loves were Sue, Stephanie, art, jazz, and the Ohio State Buckeye football and basketball teams.
He worked for many years in Columbus as an art director and later as a teacher. Thom and Sue moved to Colorado to be closer to their daughter and her family. He reveled in being a grandfather, taking the kids camping, working on art projects, and making them feel special. He and Stephanie bonded even more over their mutual love of jazz. Thom studied hard and became a docent at the Denver Art Museum, where he shared
his love of art with many visitors, family and friends.
Thom was an exceptionally kind man and was always willing to take the wheel on vacations, day trips, and wherever that high road to adventure led. His sense of humor and devotion to Sue are sorely
missed.
In August 2021, Thom and Sue celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary with a lovely party attended by friends and family from around the country. It was obvious to all how much they loved each other. A highlight of the evening was Thom's expressions of love for Sue and his invitation to her to dance.
Thom will forever be remembered as a wonderful brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
He is survived by Sue, Stephanie, grandchildren Alex Kacsh, Tony Kacsh (Billy Martinez), Jorden Misiak-Kacsh and Thomas Misiak-Kacsh; his brother John (Odette); beloved "sisters" Annie Cieslukowski and Mary Kay Sanford and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Prayer Vigil will begin at 10:00 am, followed at 10:30 am by a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April
6, 2022 (Thom's birthday), at Christ On The Mountain Catholic
Church, 13922 W. Utah Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80228.
A Denver Art Museum docent scholarship fund is being set up in
Thom's name. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to the group
he loved so much. Please contact Sue Misiak if you wish to do this
and information will be sent to you as it becomes available.

Thom was such a kind and compassionate man, who through his art and other actions made the world a more beautiful place. I will never forget his patience in helping me learn how to drive when I was a teen, his kindness to my girls, and encouragement when I began to paint again several years ago. I will miss him, and offer Bob's and my deepest condolences to Sue, Stephanie, and her family.

Biking in Alaska

I lost a close friend in December. I´ve known Thom for more than thirty years. He was an extraordinary human being. First and foremost, he was an incredibly talented artist. My first full appreciation of that was when we were vacationing together with the Misiak´s and others at a beach house. While some of us were fashioning crude castles in the sand, he was sculpting a dragon´s claw, complete with gnarled knuckles and fierce claws. He also had a quick wit, a good nature and great sense of humor. Thom and Sue enjoyed life to the fullest, and my wife Mary Ann and I were along on many of their adventures, whether they involved biking in the New Hampshire mountains, kayaking in Alaska or roaming through world-class cities. Of course, their unbounded energy always left us in the dust, but we kept up as best we could. Thom and I often shared a beer while indulging in or discussing our mutual interests in jazz and Ohio State sports. Our last encounter with Sue and Thom was spending a week last September at the beautiful mountain house that they loved so much. Thom was in pretty poor health at the time, but his wit and positive attitude were unscathed. We also got a first - hand look at Sue´s incredible devotion ( not to mention physical strength) in helping Thom through trying times.

I will miss Thom terribly.
