W. Trudy Bruner was born July 2, 1933, in Ludwigshaven, Germany, to Georg and Wihlemine Zimmer. She passed away October 28, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri.
Trudy grew up in Ludwigshaven during World War II and had 7 siblings. After the war, she went to England for work and learned English there. From there, she moved back to Germany, married an American soldier, had 2 children and came to the United States.
She eventually settled in Springfield, Missouri, where she raised her children and worked for The Springfield News-Leader for 30 years. In her spare time, Trudy enjoyed cooking meals and desserts for her family and friends, spending time with family and friends, playing cards, fishing, knitting, and visiting with her friends at the Doling Senior Center.
Trudy is survived by her daughter, Eva Fultz (Travis); son, Andy Breece (Michele), both of Springfield; six grandchildren, Megan Moore (Chuck), Rachel Steele (Kris), Heather Fenton, Tayler Fultz, Camryn Breece and Logan Breece; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Beck, Aiden Fenton, Lilly Cutburth, Remington Steele, Kyndi Steele, and Axl Moore.
Her family affectionately called her "Oma". Trudy was a selfless, caring, and generous women that led an extraordinary life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, in Springfield, Missouri. Trudy will be laid to rest with her husband at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, in Springfield, at a later date during a private family ceremony.
Her care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
