Church Hill – Ubert Lee McConnell, 102 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Scott County, VA he had lived in Church Hill since 2000.
He retired from Scott County RADA and was of the Methodist faith. Ubert was a U.S. WWII veteran and a member of Church Hill VFW Post #9754.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Reed McConnell; sisters, Lotus Good, Edna Phillips and Eliza Hartsock; brother, William McConnell; half-brother, Jim Francisco.
Ubert is survived by his daughter, Lee Ann McConnell; granddaughter, Brandy Voiles-Phipps; great-granddaughter, Victoria Voiles; great-grandson, Aden Phipps; nieces and nephews, Pat Good, Carolyn Irvin, Teresa Robinson (Wayne), Daris Hartsock (Nell), Wayne Reed, Brenda Lee (George) and Bobby Reed (Sue); many great nieces and nephews.
A military graveside service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 pm.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the McConnell family.
