Velma Louise Bleich Strobel, 86, of California, Mo. went to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City, MO. She was born a daughter of Ernest Theodore and Louise Alvina (Strobel) Bleich on February 7, 1928 at the family farm located on the Moniteau and Cole County line. Velma was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on March 11, 1928. She attended Johnson School near McGirk and St. Paul's Lutheran School. Velma was confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. On May 8, 1955 she was married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, MO to Edwin H. Strobel who survives of the home. Velma enjoyed cooking big family meals, making holiday cookies and candies, canning, quilting, crocheting and embroidery. She also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and raising poultry. Most of all she loved being a partner with her husband raising their children and working on the farm. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Strobel was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Nelda Bleich, son-in-law Terry Pearson, three brother-in-laws Lawrence Strobel, Wilbur Toellner and Eldred Wieland. Other survivors include: one son Paul Strobel (Marsha) of Tipton; three daughters Naomi Pearson (Jack Greer), Martha Phillips (Eddie Dean) all of California and Mary Bestgen (John) of Clarksburg; four sisters Martha Toellner of Warrensburg, Esther Strobel of California, Ruth Wieland of Bunceton and Anna Marie Bleich of California; three brothers Frederick Bleich (Darlene) of Lohman, Paul and Edward Bleich both of California; grandchildren Stephanie Zimmerman (Travis) of California, Jonathan Strobel of Bunceton, Sarah Griffin of Tipton and Amy Phillips of California; great grandchildren Courtney Strobel, Landon Griffin, Montana, Holden, and Rayna Strobel, Trentlynn and Truxton Zimmerman.
