Mr. William “Billy” Abernathy, age 66 of Knoxville, TN passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1957 and was adopted by Earl and Lois Abernathy, living much of his life in Knoxville. He graduated from Carter High in 1975. Billy was a Father, Brother, Son, Farmer, a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his friends. He enjoyed spending time farming, fishing, and being with family. Preceded in death by Parents, Earl and Lois (Lusby) Abernathy.
He is survived by his Sister, Betsy Griffey (Danny); Son, William Abernathy (Alisha); Daughter and light of his world, Hannah Abernathy (Charlie); Grandson and his little buddy, Alexander; adopted Grandsons, Allen and Jordan. Several other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sandra Broughton, Ellen Abernathy, Kevin Armstrong, and Bill Lusby.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. at Asbury United Methodist Church (2822 Asbury Road, Knoxville, TN 37914). A Graveside Service will follow at Asbury Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to carecutsknox.org or CareCuts, P. O. Box 51052, Knoxville, TN 37950. Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of William A. Abernathy.
