William Ernest Boards
...was born, December 31, 1941, in Smiths Grove, Kentucky, a son of the late Cleveland Boards and Bessie Murrell Boards. Ernest was a graduate of High Street High School and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church. Ernest was a retired employee of Cutler Hammer (Eaton) and previously employed by Weyerhaeuser (International Paper) and the Warren County School Transportation Department. Ernest enjoyed drag racing and won numerous races at Beech Bend, in St. Louis, Indiana and Ohio. He also enjoyed baseball, but his love for golfing was exemplified as a member of the Par Makers golf club.
Ernest married the apple of his eye, Martha Britt, in January of 1959, in Smiths Grove Kentucky. Wherever you saw Ernest you saw Martha, together sharing a lifetime of love and memories.
Early Sunday morning before the break of day, October 9, 2022, Ernest answered the call of his heavenly Father at the generous age of 80 years. Ernest has joined his parents; grandson, Davalos Shobe; Scott Britt and Malinda Armstrong Britt.
To cherish the memory of William Ernest Boards he leaves his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Martha Britt Boards; daughter, Debra Ann Robey (David); great grandson, Jatevion Shobe; in-laws, Mary Lewis, Nannie Mae Cooke, Gertrude Britt, Alexander Britt, Johnny Britt, Jerry L. Britt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
