Marilyn DiCola Obituary

Marilyn M. DiCola (nee Mangos), age 84, a resident of Naperville, IL since 2011, formerly of Arlington Heights, IL, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born January 22, 1931 in Chicago, IL. Beloved mother of Marilyn (Jeff) Purcell of Des Plaines, IL, Beth (Fred) Jasinski of Naperville and Nancy Burkhardt of Hoffman Estates, IL, adored grandmother of Laura (Matt) Kantrud, Mark, Ann and Rachel Purcell; Alex (Amanda), Emily and Hannah Jasinski; Nick and Danielle Burkhardt, great-grandmother of Fitz Thomas Kantrud, devoted daughter of the late Peter and Hilda Mangos, dear sister of the late Georgia (the late Joe) Schneller and the late Helen (the late Ernie) Fick, fond aunt of Joe (Bonnie) Schneller, Peter (the late Sybille) Hughes and Francine (the late Peter) Cameron, great-aunt and friend of many, former spouse of Vincent (Maureen) DiCola. Marilyn loved animals and was the proud owner of cats, Jade, Pumpkin and Panda and dogs, Sabbie and Lambie Pie, all now deceased. Marilyn grew up on Chicago's North Side and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School. She worked for the Chicago and North Western Railway (C&NW) before marrying and raising her family. Marilyn also worked at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights and later, as a secretary for the Township High School District 214, Arlington Heights and Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. She was a current member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville and a former member of First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights. Marilyn was also a member of the River Place Lunch Bunch, River Place Crafting Group and the Women's Circle at Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and quilting Visitation Monday, January 18, 3:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL. Additional visitation Tuesday, January 19, 10:00-11:00 AM at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville, IL 60540. Funeral services will follow Tuesday, 11:00 AM at the church. Dear Marilyn, Beth & Nancy,

I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Even though I lost contact with her when she moved from Arlington Hts, I thought of her often and missed her. We shared some lovely and exciting adventures together. Made many memories I'll always remember.

Please accept my condolences to you and your families on your loss. She will be missed.
