Maxine Anderson Obituary

Maxine Katherine Anderson, age 98, a resident of Naperville, IL and formerly of Nokomis, FL, and Cordova, IL passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, at her home at StoryPoint of Naperville. She was born on March 14, 1925, in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Waldemar and Meta Fliehler. Maxine is survived by her loving sons, Steve (Lisa) Anderson of Hermiston, OR and Jay (Ellen) Anderson of Naperville, IL, and her cherished grandchildren, Rachael and Alex Anderson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Ronald Anderson, and their son, Michael David Anderson as well as her siblings, Martin, Richard, Gloria Bays and Marjorie Hornberger. Maxine earned her RN from Moline Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1946 and married Jack Anderson in 1947. Part of Maxine's nursing career was spent as the school nurse at Prairie Elementary in Naperville. She was a ceramic artist creating whimsical figures from folklore and her own fancies, turning driftwood into Santas and river rocks into owls. Jack and Maxine enjoyed traveling every year to a different part of the world. They would document these trips as travelogs which they presented to many different audiences over the years. Maxine also truly loved spending time at the family cabin aka "Camp" on the Mississippi River at Cordova. In her earlier days she was active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Naperville and at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice FL. For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Maxine's life, memorial donations may be directed to the American Heart Association. The family is planning a memorial service to be held in the future.

Maxine was a wonderful woman. I have so many wonderful memories of her and my mother, her sister Gloria. The crafts, the outings and walks on the beach of Mississippi River. I can't not thank her enough. I will miss her deeply. Love you, Jill
