Walter Spencer Obituary

Walter A. Spencer, age 88, of Naperville, IL, at rest Monday, April 28, 2008 at Edward Hospital, Naperville. He was born April 16, 1920 in Dubuque, IA, the son of the late Clifford and Daisy Spencer.

He is survived by his son, Mark Spencer, nephew, Clifford Spencer and his cat, Blackie.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Spencer and his parents.

Walter received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, followed by a law degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served in England with the United States Army Air Corps. during World War II, leaving as a 1st lieutenant. Walter retired from Daubert Chemical Co., Chicago, IL as Vice President of Sales after many years. He was a member of the River Glen Presbyterian Church in Naperville and previously served as a Deacon at Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville. Walter enjoyed traveling, golf and was an avid sports fan, especially of Wisconsin Badger football. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of people and his keen intellect.

Inurnment Saturday, May 3, 1:30 P.M. at Naperville Cemetery, Naperville.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2:30 P.M. at the River Glen Presbyterian Church, 1140 Raymond Drive, Naperville, followed by a reception at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to: River Glen Presbyterian Church, 1140 Raymond Dr., Naperville, IL 60563 OR The Salvation Army, 437 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, IL 60505.
