Betty Altomonte

April 9, 1924 - September 9, 2015

Our beloved Nonnie, Betty Altomonte, passed away peacefully at Avow Hospice, Naples, FL, on September 9, 2015. Betty was born on April 9, 1924, on a Bellville, OH farm, to George Spayde and Camsie Anna Craven. She was immersed in a Christian community that would bring her lifelong joy and meaning. Her belief in God, and her devotion to her family, supported her throughout her life. Her family has lasting memories of Nonnie through her quilts, paintings, and needlework. She delighted in teaching her grandchildren how to make pizzelles and honey twists. She supported numerous charities through her unwavering commitment to the United Methodist Women, at North Naples United Methodist Church. She will be remembered by her wit and selflessness; her love of Bingo, crosswords, and card games; and her love of art, music, and nature.

Betty is survived by daughter, Beth Ann Siemon and spouse, Carl Siemon; son, Joseph Altomonte and wife, Gretchen Altomonte; son, Rob Altomonte and wife, Jane D'Angelo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Betty was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Anthony Altomonte; and her eight brothers and sisters.

Her family gratefully declines flowers, but donations are gladly accepted to the Missions of the United Methodist Women, at North Naples Church.

Her memorial will be held in the Chapel at North Naples Church on Saturday, September 12th at 2:00 p.m. Nonnie's favorite quote was the Book of Proverbs: "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

I remember asking her advice at times on motherhood. She had a way of expressing her opinion without stepping on toes. I admired her finesse, honesty, and charm. Her energy was infectious...I will remember her most for that. RIP

Dear Beth and Family,
I only knew your Mother for a little over two years. If you knew Betty, you loved her. She always had a smile on her face, and had a great sense of humor. She was a wonderful Christian woman and loved her Lord and her Church. Our craft group will miss her, but her spirit will always be with us. May God comfort all of you during this time of sorrow.

Aunt Betty was a beloved great aunt, who was always so happy, generous, and kind. We all loved her very much, and are so sorry it's been so long since we had the joy of spending time with her. We are so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of spending time at her house learning how to make jute plant hangers and corn husk wreaths. Wish we could have made plans to be there to celebrate her life with you today! Sending love and sympathy to all of you!
