Charles Pugh Obituary

Charles Warren Pugh, 55, of New Bern, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at CarolinaEast Medical Center where he gave the gift of life as an organ donor. He was a 1972 graduate of New Bern High School and later graduated from East Carolina University. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve for 17 years after active duty. He briefly taught school at Bridgeton Elementary School prior to a successful career in civil service at Cherry Point, from which he retired. He was an avid gun collector, loved to travel and was a member of the Sudan Shrine where he particularly enjoyed driving the mini-cars.

He is survived by his sister, Marie Kube and her husband Jeffrey of New Bern; one nephew, Christopher Bantos and his wife Mary of New Bern; two nieces, Crystal Coward and her husband Russell of Pinetown and Jessica Kube of New Bern; and four great nieces and nephews, Hunter and Gage Bantos and Valerie and Joseph Coward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Tilghman "Ikie" Pugh and Dorothy Cuthrell Pugh.

The family will observe a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribu-tions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, P.O. Drawer 490, New Bern, NC 28563. Friends and family members are invited to share memories or sign the online guest book by visiting www.pollockbest.com.
