He served in the U.S. Army and was a former member of the Jubilee Singers.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Ferrell; one son, Jacob F. Ferrell, Jr. of Arapahoe; one daughter, Sherry Ferrell-Mackey of Aurora; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Cayton officiating. Burial will be in Barnett Cemetery, Hobucken.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
