Myrtle Mullen Obituary

Myrtle Ophelia Mullen, 83, of the 5100 block of Moye Road died Aug. 1, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center.

She was educated in the Currituck County school system and received a home nursing certification from Crestwood High School in Chesapeake, Va. She was a member of New Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess and served on the Usher Board, in the Helping Hands Ministry and as a pastor's aide. She was also a member of the Morning Star Chapter No. 436 O.E.S.P.H.A.

She is survived by her son, Mack Eugene Mullen of New Bern; two grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Simons and her husband, Albert, of Chesapeake, Va.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at New Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 1104 Fentress Road, Chesapeake, Va., with the Rev. John C. Smith officiating. Burial will be at Moyock Community Cemetery in Moyock. Family and friends will assemble at 1016 Fentress Road one hour prior to the service for procession to the church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave., Chesapeake, Va.
