Angelica Aparo Obituary

Angelica Beatrice (Torino) Aparo, 94, of New Britain and Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully Aug, 26, 2021 with loving family by her side.

Ann, as she was known to family and friends, was born March 9, 1927 in New Britain to the late Joseph and Bertha (Miller) Torino. Ann graduated from New Britain High School and it was there that she met the love of her life, the late Sebastian Thomas Aparo, whom she married and together spent 68 wonderful years. As she raised her three children, she resumed her secretarial career, retiring from the Mathematics Department at Central Connecticut State University. Devoted to her immediate and extended family, Ann loved to sew, cook, bake and care for anyone who needed her and was happiest when cuddling a baby. She made Sunday dinners and Christmas Eve celebrations always special, her greatest joy being with family. Favorite pastimes were shopping, going to lunch and spending time with her sisters. Angelica was a long-time parishioner of St. Ann Church, and former member of the Ladies' Guild.

Angelica is survived by her beloved children, Philip (Bonnie) Aparo of Middletown, Laurie (Gary) Aparo Napierski of Old Saybrook and Joanne (Scott) Giegerich of Old Saybrook as well as her grandchildren, Philip Aparo Jr., Chelsie Anselmo, Alyssa Giegerich and Jack Giegerich. She also leaves her sisters, Mary Hackett and Lorraine Davis. "Auntie Ann" will be especially missed by her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Saverian Torino. We are most grateful to the many caring people who have looked after our Mom with love and compassion throughout her journey.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021 from 9 to 10:00 a.m. at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Kensington, Conn., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Church, New Britain. Burial will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Middlesex Health Hospice Program, 21 Pleasant St., Middletown, CT 06457 or online at www.middlesexhealth.org.

Laurie, My sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Mother. May you find comfort in fond memories.

I had the privilege of ministering to both Ann and her husband Sebastian at an assisted living facility in Middletown. They were a lovely and loving couple who inspired me.
May the Lord reward her for her loving kindness as she is reunited with her beloved Sebastian in the light of His face. May her family find comfort in their faith, family and friends. We must be related from roots in Sicily and New Britain, and someday we shall see exactly how.
