Vincent Lucas Obituary
Vincent H. Lucas, 89, of Port Clyde, ME, died September 13, 2017, surrounded by family, in Rockport, ME after an extended battle with cancer.
He leaves his loving wife of 67 years, Betty (Williams) Lucas; his daughters, Sandra Lucas Hurd of Branford, CT, Kim Lucas – Uniacke of Sherman, CT and Holly Lucas Murphy of Medway, MA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in New Milford, CT, the son of Catherine (Rooney) and Vincent S. Lucas, he was a resident of Bridgewater, CT until his retirement in 1988 when he and Betty moved to Port Clyde to enjoy their retirement years on the Maine coast. He was a 1946 graduate of New Milford High School where he met his wife Betty. He was also a member of the Bridgewater Fire Department.
Mr. Lucas was an entrepreneur who began a successful sheet metal business in 1961. He was also a founder of the New Milford Bank & Trust Company, which is now part of the Bank of America Corporation.
Upon his retirement, Mr. Lucas pursued his passions for flying, auto racing, travel, woodworking and gardening. He relished the times spent with family and friends as he traveled Europe, made annual treks to various race tracks in the US, crafted model airplanes and reaped a bountiful harvest of vegetables from his oceanside garden.
A private memorial service will be held in Maine. Donations may be made to the Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, MA 04856.
