PORTSMOUTH - It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Thomas, (Tom/ Tommy) Arthur Lynch of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, after a brief illness at 68 years of age. Thomas passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Tom dedicated 38 years as a Respiratory Therapist for patients at Newport Hospital after receiving his degree from Holliston Jr. College in Massachusetts.
Tom was son of Arthur and Constance Lynch of North Easton, Massachusetts and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia, (Patty White) Lynch whom he was married for 43 years. Thomas' legacy will be carried on by 2 sons; Jeffrey Lynch of Dover, New Hampshire, with wife, Toni and their children Bella 7 years old and Nolan 5 years old. Son, Ryan Lynch with wife Jennifer of Middletown Rhode Island and their daughter, Riley, aged 1. Tom will be sadly missed by brother, Robert Lynch and wife Kimberly, of Easton Massachusetts. Thomas is fondly remembered by in-laws Lee White of Arlington Virginia, sister-in-law Nancy (White) and husband John (Foxy) Connell, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours for Thomas will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at O'Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street in Newport, from 4 p.m. -7 p.m.
A memorial service will be held the following morning at the same location at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Burial will be private.
In memory of Thomas, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Portsmouth Fire Department, 2300 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871 and/or the Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
